A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. For the price of an Auto Ordnance M1icon Carbine, you can get a nice, real deal M1 Carbine that fought a war. USGI carbines start around $600-$650, and repair parts are plentiful.

As to the Auto Ordnance, I had one and it was junk. It would not feed 110 FMJ reliably, even from 15 round USGI magazines. Quality control was terrible, and it took three tries to get a stock that fit. While I carried a USGI carbine as a trunk weapon for much of my LEO career, I would not bet my life on the Auto Ordnance carbine, however. I sold mine to a re-enactor who was plugging the barrel for blanks. Also, some parts do not interchange with USGI, limiting repair parts availability.

Must have been a fine tuned author gun. Mine, and the three that I handled at the gun shop I worked part time , all had issues (three out of three we sold came back for assorted issues. The shop later refused to carry them.

I have not heard good things, except from Gun mag articles. But I've never handled one.
