Got a whole farm, one kid and 5 cats already

Gotta correct the production numbers, exactly 547 m/27 trainers made, 200 in 1936 and 347 in 1938.
Some of teh trainers were chamberes for .22short, but numbers anre not documented. The 1938 made rifles have a .22lr cartridge shape engraved to teh top flat of teh action.
There were around 2500 m/91 trainers made, and early series in AV1 and the later ones by Tikkakoski.

Chris, I doubt that. All M28's were made at Suojeluskuntain Ase-ja Konepaja Osakeyhtiö. The only connection Tikka has is that 13,061 M28 barrels were made by Tikka and used in assembly at the other factory.

All M28's were stocked with modified one piece Russian M91 stocks that underwent conversion and were inspected and accepted by the Civil Guard workshop Suojeluskuntain Ase-ja Konepaja Osakeyhtiö (the fore-runner to SAKO). These original M28 stocks will all have an SYT cartouche surrounded by an oval in a finger groove on the side of the stock. You might want to look and see if that cartouche is present on your stock, if not, it's not a real M28 stock.

For reference, we have a library entry on the M28 here:

No SY stampe anywere, but the stock was converted in m/28 fassion, because the thicker screws for the bands of the m/27 early configuration do not fit.
Let's see what I can find out next month, when I am in Finland, a buddy there has two m/27 trainers and another a m/91. There are also trainers in m/28-30 configuration.
I will try to talk to Mr. Palokangas too.

    Chris
