Speaking of ejectors and slides...

On my un-messed with original Inland, it has an Inland flat bolt, a Type V slide, and Type II or III (I can't remember which, and I am not home at the moment), It ejects nicely to the rear at 4-5 o'clock, in a nice little pile. (i.e. late slide and late ejector)

The Standard Products also has an Inland flat bolt, but has an early Quality Hardware slide (Type II?) and an early, worn, Type I ejector. It also ejects 4-5 o'clock in a nice pile. (i.e. early ejector and early slide).

As an experiment, I put a new Type III ejector and spring in the Standard Product's bolt with the early slide. The empties ejected 6 o'clock, ON TOP of my head! I cleaned up the worn Type I ejector, and re-installed it back into the SP. Empties were back at 4-5 o'clock.

The CMP Inland I had before the un-messed with one, had a round bolt, type VI slide and Type III ejector. It ejected 4 o'clock. The Mash Az Underwood I had several years ago had a flat bolt, Type I Inland Slide, and Type III ejector when I first got it. It ejected them all over the place. I put a Type I ejector in it, and it cured the problem.

Hmmmmm????? were the late ejectors designed specifically for the later slides?.. Granted, the four recent carbines that I tracked this on are a small sample, but it sure seems to show that later slides need later ejectors, and that early slides need early ejectors. I knew different style ejectors will pattern the ejection differently, and routinely swapped types to make whatever flavor Carbine I had at the time eject where I want it. I had never collated the relationship of the slide style before, however.Anyone else have a similar experience?

I've had pretty much the same experience that you've described. I didn't correlate it at the time, but knew that something was going on and it didn't really agree with what my books said about upgrading to the later ejectors. I tend to agree with what you've described. - Bob

I need to figure out what style ejectors I have. I remember my carbine throwing them all over the place. Every once in a while on my forhead, sometimes off to the side at about 4 oclock. But never consistent. And the ones in the face are annoying. That's the flat bolt one. I don't really remember how my Dad's inland throws them.
