    1863 Remington Zouave rifle

I'm looking at a 1863 Remington Zouave rifle and don't have a clue of what would be a fair offer to its' owner.

It is in very good condition, no visible cracks or rust. The only thing I noticed is that the 3 tier sight must have come off as it appears to be glued on by maybe Super Glue.

The rifle even has the extra nipple in the stock under the brass hinge plate.

Any response would be appreciated. Thanks.

Cabela's was selling replicas, but they are now sold out..

    Cabela's: Civil War - 1863 Zouave

This guy was selling one in his catalog for $1,795.00

Civil War Antiques (Dave Taylor's) May Webcatalog

Here's a video of someone shooting theirs …

If it is a shooter, then from $2000 upwards. And do NOT buy any Civil War stories. It may be known as the Model 1863, but it seems that it was all over by the time the "Zouaves" got to the troops!

    1863 Remington Zouave rifle

I don't think they were ever issued. I think they were sold off from storage without seeing any service.

The relative youth of most members of the forum has regularly surprised me.
