The vertical line looks offset to the left to me. Don't recall seeing that before.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. C..F is our shill bidder

They are getting really greedy on this one. It went from about $50 to $300 in short order, doesn't follow a typical auction pattern.

Jim: I like your SW oiler.

I think N..E wanted it bad. When it went above his first bid, he took it to $75.55 the next morning - and that wasn't high enough. Apparently, about 4 minutes later, he upped his maximum bid (must have really wanted it bad!) to $510 or more. I believe that was his final bid. Later that afternoon, C..F took it on up to $510 all within about 3 minutes. Does a shill bidder know somehow when to stop, or do they just run it up - and if they go overboard the item gets relisted at some later time? I wonder if that sale will actually go through? I've spent 30 minutes trying to figure out the bidding, and still don't understand it. - Bob

To add insult, $12.95 to ship an oiler? What the heck is that?

I think you have it figured out. What I don't understand is why N....E went so high to make sure he got it. And N....E is not a prank bidder. He has a lot of prior activity feedback. My two best guesses are 1) N...E and C...F are both the seller, directly and indirectly, just fishing for a third bid. I don't think the fee would be that much but somebody with ebay sales experience can correct me, and 2) N...E has deep pockets and was drunk or stoned when he bid and, by God, he wanted it and no SOB was going to get it away from him. But, neither of these scenarios make really good sense, so I just now thought of a third. Jumpjacket1944 is pulling a bunch of our chains - the whole thing was a joke and he ate the $10 fee to keep me (us) up at night talking about it. I met this guy and no. 3 is the most plausible explaination. He never intended to dupe anyone with his 'rare' label (not like him) on this oiler because he was going to make sure nobody bought it. Case solved. Semper Fi.

Pardon me, but is this is Canadianicon funds?

I believe the winner N***E must have auto-bid.

Shadycon you should hurrry and sell it on Ebay. You could make a heck of a profit off it.
