    Project L1A1 - 2 Years In

I’m so glad to find a FAL section to the forum! I "grew up" o L1A1s and have now built a keeper (at least in my eyes!)

It was a gunshow special, which has been SUIT sighted and cleaned and constantly adjusted for looks and performance - 2 years in and its coming together!

It’s my go-to rifle for any event and has caused some intrigue and trouble (voted loudest rifle on the mountain!). I love dusk shoots with the SUIT post lit up...bowling pins, can’t run or hide!

Its a Century Imbel, Type 3 receiver I believe - fully Inch compatible, the lower is a BSA 58, the barrel and gas system an Enfield 77 and appears to be chromed (let's not start a disagreement - my gunsmith brought it up....). It now has a BSA long butt stock and similar pistol grip, the fore grip is a nice piece of wood, but of unknown origin (continuing the search for early BSA). I put some work into the SUIT to bring it together physically and performance wise (clamp spring tension!). I had the muzzle brake added and use a urethane bumper for the bolt - in addition to the long wood stock all three have made the shooting experience very manageable. I also indulged in a pristine Britt bayonet and "arctic" sling. Overall it performs flawlessly and is now hitting without incident at 200yds - I need to find longer! A few more tweaks and then I may treat it to a full strip and rebuild for an OE look and performance paint job.

“The very sound of it racking a round home is enough to deter them from their nefarious plans”
