    Dummy 30-40 Krag/ 45-70 display ammo.

Does anyone make dummy cartridges to display in old cartridge belts or for wear by reenactors? I can't seem to find correct bullets to make my own.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. This is what I have done in the past. Get a supply of cases that fit your rifle. Use a dowel stick that fits the inner diameter of the case. Using a drill, Drill a hole through the case, the stick and the other side of the case. Repeat with all your cases , replacing the dowel as neeeded. (If you mark the dowel beyond the length of the case in line with the hole, the stick will last longer) A drill press works great as well. After you have finished putting holes in the cases, polish off any burrs. Again get your dowel stick and with the case, rim up, put a dab of rubber cement, quick dry exopy, or something similar in the primer pocket. You can use spent primers as well. Here comes the tricky part. You need a buddy that reloads and has a set of dies for your caliber. Seat the bullets as if you were reloading loading them . Use a crimp and either clear nail polish or one of the products that reloaders use to seal primers and or case necks. I made hundreds of these in .38 spl to teach police recruits loading drills and to practice with speed loaders. Hope this helps
