    Unknown trigger housing marking

I have a similar marking on one of my carbines but havn't had a chance to photograph it. Mine is lightly struck and I barley noticed it. I found a similar marking online which is the photo attached. Both markings are on an Inland. Can anyone share any knowledge on this marking?

Just looks like a lightly struck late production Inland mark. Lots of them around.

It is Inland inside the building. It is stamped sideways.

    Re: Unknown trigger housing marking

After I thought about it I figured the "land" was part of "Inland". Just wasn't sure if it had some significance or it is just a common inland inspection stamp? I only have 1 Inland so I had nothing to compare it to. It is weird how everthing is stamped deep exept for the "IN". On a side note a guy at a local shop sold a Inland, post war rebuild yesterday, I over heard how much he gave him for it, when I called today to check on the price he told me $900...ouch ...but he would deal with me cause I'm a regular...when I asked him why so much he said they did more "research" and found that it was completely original. Although I corrected him he didn't want to come down cause someone was considering it as we spoke. I know prices are up right now but I couldn't make an offer as I didn't want to insult him. Hopefully it will sit and I can grab it up and add another Inland. The only thing different on this one was the mag release which I believe had a "M" with a "WA"? Underneath it. It did have a bayonet which I didn't see but wil try to find out more about it.

IF, it has an ORIGINAL flip sight, that $900 is about $200 too low for the going price around here just on the rifle. Any mixmaster with original flip sight starts at $1K. Add an original bayonet, price goes up 1 - 300 dollars, depending on manufacture and condition.
This is central Va. pricing, just FYI.

It had the adjustable sight, bayonet lug, blued, stock had been refinished and "lacquered"? with no markings. I'm pretty sure the barrel matched the receiver, no idea on any of the internals

That trade mark on the housing must have been stamped with a broken die. These things happened and it would not have been enough of a problem to pull the carbine and re-work it. The carbine generally does not sound 'original', but you would have to post the serial number and pictures to really get any good info. A late Inland would not be blued and stocks are not supposed to be sanded enough to remove markings and then lacquered.
