Son and I would like to shoot this. I have a bunch of milsurps, so prob a bunch of targets...

Is this "shoot, take pix of rifle and target, post" or is this a postal match? Assuming it is the latter - shoot your milsurp(s) and post the rifle/target...

    Oscar,

Welcome to the shoot/comp, Its a shoot take pics and post on this thread, (not a traditional postal match) I only need pics of the target and info regarding the rifle type, year, calibre, scope etc, and what category it comes under, (Full list on first page, post #1) if your shooting the .22 need the range also either 25 or 50,

Regarding pics the more the merrier ( no need to go overboard ) its more of a friendly shoot/comp between us Milsurp owners and see what that individual can do with his or her rifle or rifles, and for those like us in the UKicon, who need good reason to own firearms, target shooting is one and this provides the opportunity to compete in a comp.

Some may post all the info as a range report, and then post the target etc in the comp (this thread) hope this helps.

1945 No4Mk1"T" with newly restored front end and bedding.

So with a warmer weekend and a couple of free hours a mid-afternoon run out in 40 degree temps with a gusting 2-5mph wind from the 11o clock position, I set sighting targets at 100 yards on an empty range I have just restored the 'T's front end using NOS parts and done the best I can with bedding, draws and front triggard gaurd screw spacer setting. This was its first run out using my current favorite S&B 150 G FMJ and a seated bench position with front swivel sand bag, standard issue two point sling wrapped around my forearm, and sandbag at the butt sling swivel. I did observe some stringing and the tendency for the rifle to jump and twist to the right – I think the standard sling was too tight around my forearm (lots of layers of clothes) despite the sling being at max length. I have since procured a PH target sling which I will start with at the magazine swivel and a nice NOS leather laced recoil pad – less bouncy than the car tire version. My next target print job will be lightened to mid grey in place of black so I can see the holes during a string and make adjustments. Also in a future shoot and hopefully a report: four types of ammo to “taste test” (Kynoch’51, Privi, S&B and HPX – possibly a 5th from Radway Green).

    Grey target for 11 x 17 paper

Here is the target I messed with after the last shoot to produce a grey field and the right size trget zones on 11x17 paper (as always check it when you print it). the grey is becoming blotchy, but will support shooting, seeing (contrast) and scoring - just add a 2" bullseye sticker etc. I hope this helps!

Could raise the bar a little higher, but here's my old Winchester 52 with a Winchester A5 scope. (complete with very bent crosshair grat for a little more challenge.) First time using the Wolf ammo. Stinky, but it must be the stink of goodness!

    25 yard Category 6.5:

W52 25yd Target #1: Five rounds after five sighting-in rounds on another target. The upper portion is just torn out a bit, turns out it wasn't a high round.

    W52 25yd Target #2: Five more rounds.

Will have to try this ammo at 100 yards! But it won't be an entry as this rifle isn't milsurp, AFAIK.

    But wait, there's more!

    25 yard Category 6.1 (fancy sights, but they're "issue"): U.S. M1922 MK.II w/Wolf ammo:

M1922 25yd Target #1: As above, but it took ten rounds on sighter targets (not shown) to fine tune for the ammo and to bring the sight down from it's 100yd setting.

M1922 25yd Target #2: Operator error caused the high round. Could blame it on age and bad eyes...riiiight.

And finally, a game getting wonder seen previously on this site with a "brand new" (found in one of my toolboxes) 6x scope.

Another Cat. 6.5, but at 50 yards- Winchester 69A w/Weaver B6(?) scope and currently "unobtanium" Federal Value Pack HP ammo. (Very effective squirrel round- much better than the Remington Golden Bullets):

69A 50yd Target #1: Not quite as zeroed as first thought...

    69A 50yd Target #2: Squirrels won't like it!

Cold, drizzly, sleeting a bit, but no wind until the 69A was on the firing line. Plus, got to shoot an original .32-20 chambered Remington Hepburn! (Additionally, tested 12 Ga Mag turkey loads, and ran an "Aeronautica Argentinaicon" Ballister Molina on the plate rack a bit, plus more.) Couldn't ask for a better day at the range.

I’ll keep the story short. NICE day, 72 degrees, sunny, a few gusts up to 25mph, but overall NICE! Starting to get parts in, so took the Ruger 10/22 out for its LAST range trip before modification.
STOCK 10/22 target model with Bushnell Banner 4-16x40 w/ CF500 reticule

BEST sight in group! Why can’t I get groups like that on contest targets?

Warning, experimental photo attach techniques! Confusion for the "Poster"...

Romanian .22, 2nd go at an entry for this rifle, Category 6.1:

    Attachment 43382
    Attachment 43383

    25yd photos.

    Attachment 43384

    Attachment 43385
    50yd.

Probably would have been better scores last week, but it was range SNAFU day, rather than computer training day. Much less wind then.
