Mark 2 Model 1 Grade B Trophy rifle Questions

This is concerning one of the Mark 2 Model 1 Grade B match rifles with the glossy finish that were awarded to Navy match winners. I've asked some questions about these rifles in a couple of other forums around Xmas time and did not get any answers to a couple of them. Thought I'd try again here.

Attached is a photo of the receiver with what could be a lower case "g" or the number "9" electro penciled on it. I'm kind of leaning towards a "9" because of the line drawn under it to differentiate it from a "6".

Then a photo of the bolt with what I think could be "72" or "12".

Finally a full length photo of the rifle, I apologize for neglecting to remove the yellow screw protector from the op rod handle before taking the photo. They are a great way to keep the handle from denting safe-mates, but don't help the photo LOL.

Am hoping someone has seen these markings before and knows what they mean.

    Thanks in Advance.
    -Mike

Jim Adell knows. IIRC, these were measurements put on by Doc McCoy.

I think the 9 is just a rack or rifle number, the 72 on the bolt maybe the measurement of the bolts little nub. I just grabbed a bolt and measured it real quick it came up .085 maybe there were measured too track bolts wear when the rifle was built or thats the measurement needed to keep the rear of the bolt centered in the reciever.

    Mike,

I have photos of the same rifle that was opened from the CMPicon and photographaped then rewrapped. If you would like these, please contact me off line and I'll send them to you. Same grade no extra markings.

    Thank You

Bob, very much appreciate the reply and info. The thought that I have something Doc McCoy worked on or even just touched part of means a lot to me.
As an aside and not to hijack my own thread, I want to comment on your Avatar..... "Mein Fuhrer!!! I can walk!!!" "Dr. Strangelove", what a great film!! Only one of hundreds of great lines in that movie.

Phil, the "72" on the bolt is in such an odd location, I couldn't imagine why it was where it was. Now with Bob's information and your checking the measurement of the nub, it starts to make sense.

    Thanks again- Mike
