Quick Question On a Steyr 95 Stutzen

I have a very nice Steyr 95 Stutzen Carbine, Austriaicon mfg, 8x56R Caliber and I’m looking for a clip for it. I’ve heard them called loading clips, do they stay in the rifle while it is being fired or does it act as a stripper clip. Also, these were cut down before import, does anyone have a picture of an original length steyr , I would like to if possible bring this back to its original glory . Thanks in advance for any replies.

The clips are loaded as a packet along with the ammo. They act as a feed control device whilst in the rifle, but when the last round is chambered they fall out the bottom of the rifle.

They actually made carbines so it may not be cut down. There are ways to tell, mainly the rear sight. Most of the recent imports I've seen are actual carbines but a few were cut down long rifles. Only thing I needed to do for mine was to find the rear sling swivel for the base of the butt stock. They are not easy to come by. As for restoring it to original length, new barrel and stock would not be cost effective. These were arsenal reworks between the wars and would have been used in the short version in WWII.

There are also a few long rifles coming in in the recent imports although they want double what they are asking for the carbines. I've not yet found one in such a condition I was willing to pay that much for.

The clips are not hard to come by. Ebay has lots of them for sale at any given time. They operate in a similar manner to the Italianicon Carcano's and Frenchicon Berthier's.
