    New find M-H IV

Just came across this, not in bad shape but missing all the working parts.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. It can get costly to replace all the missing parts. You can find the parts at IMA, Atlanta Cutlery, e-pay. There are also some suppliers listed on the british military forum.
I love my MKIV and now have a MKII to work on. I wonder if it would work out better to part it out and then buy an untouched gun from IMA or AC.
Best of luck with your project.

Might even be worth looking for one that's got a rotten bore or had the wood mangled and buying the whole thing for parts. Doing it piece by piece might be cost-ineffective, as noted above.

I am in OZ at the moment, so no access to dimensional info, but it strikes me that a Greener police gun might serve as a donor for almost all of the action components. And they seem to be pretty cheap, compared with a real M-H. Can someone check that out?

Greener actions are about 30% larger in every dimension and have zero interchangability with MH rifles. The bits for a MK IV are obtainable for less than the rifle or you can part out what you have for well over half the cost of a complete rifle. If you want to part it out, I'm sure the stock and barrel would go in no time....and I could use a spare receiver myself. Just depends which way you want to go with it.
