CG63 extra sportered barrelled action - shortened - function?
I'm looking to build a light hunting rifle and love Mausers. I've got wind of a CG63 barrelled action.
It's been sportered... diopter/peep sights removed, d + t for scope. So sad, but so far, fine for me.
The big issue is the barrel, which has been chopped down/recrowned (apparently capably) to about 20 inches (from what I understand was an original 29 inches). It appears to be the CG heavy tapered (not military stepped) barrel and the bore is apparently good or better.
Wondering if this will make a huge difference in accuracy and I don't have the experience/math skills to know what the impact will be. I don't need to shoot 600 yards from the bench, but the more normal hunting distances.
Opinions?

There was a school of thought in the DCRA that short stiff barrels got better. Yours may be one of those attempts. The "Carl Gustavs" were competitive for a while, but when there were better actions to choose from, guys started to get desperate.

I have a Turk 03/38 8mm that I cut the barrel to 22" & recrowned it. While resting the forarm on a sand bag & if I do my part, while sighting through the Lyman peep that I put on it, I can put 5 of my reloads in a 3" bull at 100yds. I think it shoots pretty good.
