A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Hi, The 1896 rear carbine sight will have a C on the right side at rear. The ladder is graduated up to 20 instead of 18 for the rifle and also across from the 20 will be another C. The slide will also have a center section at the groove that is stepped lower and extending about a 1/4 " on both side of groove. There are a number of fakes around since they are scare and very expensive. Also check out the photos on the Kragicon Collector Assoc. site. Serial ranges vary depending on which author you use. Approx. 25100-37600 & 67000-79500 according to "The Krag Rifle Story" by Franklin Mallory. They were not run in order and made only for a portion of the years '85-'87. Same receiver as rifle, so you could have 8 rifles and 1 carbine in a row and 20 more rifles before 2 or 3 more carbines. Are you the gentleman who works on Arisakaicon rifles? If so, you drilled out a stock for me that missed the cleaning rod station in production. PM me if I can help. John
