Help ID this large mag spring

Do not know what this is for ? The end rings are about 1 1/4 inches in outside diameter. The other loops about 1/16 in. less. The spring is about 4 in. front to back. Estimated mag length maybe 7 to 9 in. Thanks.

The width of the ring throws me. Wider than a "real" carbine. I'm thinking large rifle cartridge with 15 or 20 rounds, like a BAR or maybe even something like a Boys.

Yes, I was thinking large caliber as well. Could it be for the spotting gun on the M106 recoiless ?
