He seems to have a few of them....
The first had a buy it now price of £50 and sold within minutes of being listed - the second had a buy it now for £57 and sold almost as quickly. I think this is the fourth at £72.

Still seems a reasonable price at that though - if anyone wants one I would snap one up quick before he finds out how much one sold for on ebay on Sunday!

I just exchanged emails with the seller and asked him to email me a better picture and to confirm if it is made of nylon . It appears to be the same configuration as the nylon one that is pictured on page 106 in Peter Laider"s book AN Armourer's Perspective: .303 No.4 [T] Sniper Rifle and the Holland & Holland Connection . IT is stenciled in ink with the same CN-1005-99-132-3199 part number with the words [ Seyntex 2007] .The seller said that he thinks it is made of a web marteial not nylon .The seller has listed a link http:// http://www.rollanet.org/~stacyw/brit...with_rifle.jpg THAT shows the sling on a L42a1 .I wonder if Peter Laider could chime in and shed some light on the nylon vs a web made Seyntex material ? AND yes I purchased for GBP 67.00 just to have it to go with my nylon 3199 sling I bought last summer on Ebay for GBP 80.00 in new condition form a seller that listed it as a British Army Artic SLR L1A1 rifle sling . He sold 2 of them for that price.The same guy that sold the nylon one on Sunday for GBP 330.00 also sold one on the same day last summer THat I purchased mine for GBP 80.00, For over $498.00 U.S. !

The syntex sling on offer but not shown clearly (naughty naughty....., unlike the recent one accurately shown and described on that auction site) in the photos is the CURRENT 1" or so wide webbing configuration as used on the L96 rifle and also available (?) for the L42. BUT, it didn't come into the system until the very last L42's were leaving the UK MoD system so it's up to you. I have a 1" wide webbing syntex on my L96 of course, because it's correct (and in the system of course!) In theory of course, an L42 could have a leather sling, the 1.5" nylon sling usually associated with the L42 and in theory, one of the 1" wide Belgian Syntex slings

BUT, to be absolutely fair, the webbing sling is better than the nylon and this was brought about because after the Falklands war, there was a concerted effort to get rid of nylon and thereafter cotton weave webbing was always sought. This applied to zillions of things from GPMG, Milan etc etc slings. Additionally, the cotton webbing didn't burn or slip and was a standard NATO size. Further to that, just the aerolex clamp-keeper closure buckle from the wide Irvine nylon sling cost a whacking £117 EACH whereas the 1" buckles and hardware for the webbing slings were available off the shelf. Both retained the same part number because it was just an academic change in pattern/manufacturer/contract. There was a short memo came out about it to the effect that when stocks exhausted (always written up in the usual WSE jargon that no one takes any notice of.....), the replacement sling will be blah blah blah and on it droned.

So there you have it........... The Belgian contract Syntex slings will always be a thinner cotton weave 1" wide sling.

Peter, is the slng shown in the seller's link above a British issued Seyntex web sling? It appears to be wider than one inch or is it a well worn 1.5'' nylon sling ? Who made the Seyntex slings , The British or the Belgians for the British ? Are the web Seyntex slings widely available For purchase and what is the fair price for one?

TR63. Answered above. As to value. I haven't got a clue. Never had to buy one in my life and am a simple Armourer and not a dealer or trader of any sort! However., for my preference and the snipers, then me and most of them seem to prefer the cotton webbing. I have cotton webbing on mine

The seller seems to have lots of British army stuff all buy it now. It's got all the hallmarks of a 2nd hand webbing kit seller who just got some of the slings on the latest pallet of stuff he's bought. Mine arrived this am and is brand new and seems to be genuine. Looks the same as the lower one in Waco's pictures - it's the cotton webbing one. Never seen one for sale before so ...
