Enfield No 2 MK1 used by German police units?

A friend is a registered collector of German police handguns. He is interested in acquiring an Enfield No2 Mk1 and would like to know if the Enfield revolver was ever used by German police units (possibly in the post-WW2 British zone of occupation), in which case it would fall into his approved field.

If anyone has documentary evidence of such a use, PLEASE post it here A.S.A.P., as if he has the justification for keeping it, I will be able to try it out!

`Twould necessarily have only been in the Brit. zone (BAOR) and/or in the Brit. sector of Berlin. I´ll ask around the ex-police members of the clubs.

Very interesting question Patrick. I remember a case in Englandicon where an old soldier had an old 9mm Browning No2 pistol in his possession and said that he took it from a Germanicon Policeman during a pub brawl in the British Occupation Zone of W-Germany in the 40's. His defence (for still having it after 60 years no less.....) was that he couldn't really give it back because of the way he (and his mates) got it and the fact that they were all pi............, er........, what's the Officer-like word I'm looking for? Oh yes....., they were all drunk as well. A chargeable offence and even MORE henous when one of the Police had lost his pistol to boot!

Re your initial question Patrick. Did you get any other feedback from the person who asked YOU the original question?

Yes I did. He says he found a mention in some gruesomely expensive specialist book for collectors of police firearms.

P.S. The book says it was indeed in the BAOR zone.
