Newbie Help?

I was 'scared' into buying an L1A1 receiver from Gunbroker, 'just in case' I could never get one again. I then bought what was supposed to be a Canadian C1A1 parts kit that turned out to be a selection of someones 'leftovers'.

The lower receiver is has UE 60 A54406 59D and 960-0071 stamped on it. It looks like its in good condition even though it seems to have some trigger problems, 'no issue' I will replace with compliance parts. Can anyone tell me if it is Brit or Canadian?

The gas block has a 'pin' front sight, mounted on a square peg on a round base. This isn't Brit, is is Canadian or maybe Indian?

The wood is quite nice, the stock has MA84 stamped into it and the hand guards MA 67. Any help on origin would be great!

You have a 1960 Enfield made trigger mechanism housing and the 960- etc is the UK part number. The MA indicates that the woodwork is from Australia. The rifle body and barrel gas block will need a photo to identify.

What makes you say that the trigger mech has trigger problems?

Hi Peter, many many thanks, it's good news on the lower receiver, I really wanted a Brit pattern rifle, (misspent youth spent carrying one). It does seem to confirm that this was a parts tie cobbled together or even a set made up from leftover parts. The barrel is Canadian marked 308 sporter, the gas block is unlike anything I have seen before and the wood is Aussie. I have bought a new furniture set from Silver Crescent Industries and a barrel from Colorado guns to go with Mr Century receiver for compliance reasons, maybe I should just build up the rest with Brit pattern parts and sell on the rest? I already bought a new Brit flash hider and a new Brit pattern gas block 'in the white', a compliance trigger, sear and hammer set and compliant gas piston, Any advice on what I have already bought would be great.
For barrel assembly who would you recommend? In Utah I seem to have very little choice, I have a contact in NM, Croc? Any views?
PS I already own two Mosin Nagant inc one Sniper and one Lee Enfield from the latest batch of 'mummy wrapped new /old stock. All get shot, anything else would be dishonorable to the men who built or carried them in the past (in my humble view)
