    1884 Trapdoor question

So I picked this rifle up last week. Have been stalking them for a while and found what seemed to be a decent deal.
Just wondering if any of you folks might be able to tell me more about the rifle. Not really interested in its value as I have no plan to sell it. I shot it this weekend with some light handloads. Too much fun.

One thing I'm wondering is whether the stock is original. For some reason, I'm under the impression that the 1884 model had a shorter wrist. But that may just be me reading something wrong somewhere.

Appreiciate any thought you might have.

This looks a very nice rifle. I have the earlier version and it has the same proof mark combination that you are showing. If the Springfield Armoury website is up and operating again, you may be able to get some information from that with the rifle serial number. From the photos it looks genuine enough and dimensions do differ (cerainly in the older versions) between "cadet" and other models.

Looks indeed like you have the early Long wrist, short comb stock on this rifle, but maybe my eyes are shot. What is the serial number, and "model " stamped onto of the breech block?
