At a gun auction Thursday and I kept track of what .223s went for per box and divided by 20. Came out to $1.25 a round. People were glad to pay it. Bricks of .22s were going for $65 a brick.

Two H Bars went for about $1,200 each. That surprised me as that is what they usually retail for. Panic over with?

At the gunshows I have visited... there have been plenty of Black Rifles (AK's and AR's). They were not marching off the shelf by any means. Prices IIRC were north of $1100.00 for your typical AR. The usual dealers had lowers, but I didn't see them moving.

There has been more interest, as it appears to me... in handguns.

I purchased 100rds of .223 reloads for $50.00. I did see bricks of .223, but it was short of $1.00 per round. But, I think this is regional. The feedback I am getting is that some areas are completely wiped out.

BTW, I am starting to get emails from parts venders stating that uppers and magazines are in stock again (limited quantities).

My friendly gun smith and firearms dealer can't keep pistols in stock even though there is no ammo for them. The dealers can't get any from the manufacturers.
What is moving are the .380s, 9mms, 38s, and .357s. The big bores are not selling up here. Anything that could be considered as a NATO, is in great demand.

I'm currently at the Calgary gun show and we have no such prices here. .22 is still around $22-$25 a brick. ALL other calibers are available...seem to be normal prices. Absolutely no shortage of firearms of any type.

In Canada there are varying reports on the availability of ammo and firearms. I shop at a store that presently has a good supply of most cal's however .22 LR is selling quickly and will be in short supply soon. I was told their suppliers are out of stock and they have no idea when they will get their next .22 order.

Some firearms are in short supply and this probably doesn't show up unless there is something specific you are looking for. Personally want a Tika (blued) in 6.5X55 and was told there are NONE available so hopefully one will show sometime in the future.

Where I shop they are now limiting primer sales to 1,000 and powder to 1 pound. Their powder supply is very low and again no replacement in the near future.

There are people who say we won't have a supply problem in Canada however seeing as the US has a major shortage one would be foolish to think Canadian dealers will be supplied before their American counterparts. One doesn't have to wear a tin-foil hat to see some popular cal's are going to be in short supply and it could be months before we see orders filled.

Prices are starting to rise especially in .22 LR as they have increased from the wholesaler and will probably rise further in the near future. Have seen this on the horizon for a few months so did a bulk buy in reloading supplies and cal's we shoot on a regular basis. We are now in the season where the weather is beautiful and my son and I intend to make-up for our lack of range time during the past winter. Gopher season is about to start in many parts of the country so .22 will see a huge demand any day now.

Prices for .223 vary and have bought it at 25, 27, 32. 35 and 37 cents a round. Found some at 39 so wish I could get it to my American friends but alas not possible. The bonus was finding Hornady .224 bullets in bulk for $59.49/500. Those same bullets are now $64.95/500.

Personally I think if you find your cal at a price you think is reasonable here in Canada you would be wise to buy your years supply.

I just went to a Gunshow on Saturday.
I saw a lot of black rifles on the shelves, and they were not moving. Many had $1500 crossed off... and $1400 crossed off... etc.
There was plenty of .223, 30-06 and .308. It was expensive. But it was obtainable... M1 garand 8rd en bloc clip with ammo was $8.00 to $10.00. 7.62x54r was $30.00 per 100 rds I believe.

High cap Pmags (tapco and magpul) were $18.00 up to $40.00. Steel mags were all over the map, but in stock. of course 20rd Colt were $$.

Interesting sight was a plastic AR lower for $70.00. It wasn't a Plumcrazy... and looked pretty nice. Most AR lowers in Aluminum are north of $300.00.

I did see 22lr.... a 525rd box for $70.00.

I would be lying to you if I told you a manufacturer on the plastic lower. I believe it had a US flag on the magwell. This leads me to assume it was an ATI or New Frontier, but I didn't handle it.

As to the 22lr, I was seeing it for about $40.00 per 525 box, two gunshows ago... but the price has risen up. Meijer, Walmart and Dunhams in this area have been out for MONTHS.

I have to admit, that I was shocked by the amount of M2 ball for the garand that has popped up.

And yes, I did see Lake City 30 carbine ammo for $40.00 per 50rds (fresh out of the tin).

M1 Garands are up around $1000.00. And I did see one 1917 for $800. M1 Carbine for $600.00.... M1D for $5,800. I have seen the M1D at the last 4 gunshows, and it hasn't moved from the dealer.

IMHO, I am NOT seeing long guns moving right now... mostly handguns...
