DCM sales records for U.S. Springfield M1922 M1 ,22 training rifle

I have a M1922 M1 U.S. Springfield training rifle. I was wondering if there are any DCM sales records for these rifles. My rifle serial # is 12155. Thanks Steve

Congratulations Steve! I get a hit on 1922M1 #12155. SRS shows the rifle was sold on 06-02-31. The code is 1922M1P which I believe means it was in the 1922M1 Issue type stock and had a parkerized finish. Since it was sold to an individual in 1931 it should have escaped the rebuilding and refinishing that the rifles that remained in govt inventory were subjected to. Subscribers to U. S. Martial Arms Collector Magazine can get a letter from SRS telling to whom and when the rifle was sold. The letter will have a copy of the original sales card attached. The subscription costs $35.00 per year and the sales letter costs $65.00. Your rifle was sold as a new item, not as military surplus. I have no connection with SRS except as a subscriber. I have no explanation as to why a rifle that would have been built in about 1927 would have remained in inventory at Springfield Armory until 4 years later.

Thanks Herschel for the information. How long does it take to get a reply from SRS? I am a new member to SRS and sent them a email with the serial number to see if they had any information on the gun about a week ago. I will try to post pictures of the gun this weekend, I will need to get my sister to help me. Thanks again, Steve

I hand delivered a request for a sales record to Wayne Gagner at the Tulsa Show last November. It seems that I had t he letter back in a couple of weeks. I think he is a one man research operation and the amount of work he has to do may determine the time it takes to return the letter to you. What is the finish and stock type on #12155? Your serial number 1922M1is the first I have seen that had the code P after the model number. On the M2 Rifles the code P means parkerized finish so I assumed the P on a 1922M1 meant the same.
