    1903 Stock vs. 1903A3 Stock

    Will a 1903 stock fit a 1903A3 ?

    I have a 1903A3.
CMPicon has new production 1903 stocks available, but no 1903A3 stocks.
The ones I'm looking at are the pistol-grip stocks.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Yes, the CMPicon stocks will fit the A3. That is what you see here.

Then the new CMPicon 1903 stocks must come also already inletted for the handguard ring of the 03A3, right? Some Original GI WWII "Scant Stocks" made early only fit the 03, as they were machined for the 1903 rear sight base, and NOT for the 03A3 handguard ring, until the 03A3 reached production status, then all replacement stocks were cut for both rifles. Just to clarify. CC

CMP has stocks for both 1903 and 03-A3. I have one of each. The only difference is which hand guard is furnished, and the style of the CMP cartouche. It's Item #87 in their catalog.
The CMP store isn't showing the 03-A3 page at the moment. But it's still pictured in the Sales section. Might be a glitch, you'll have to call them.

    Thanks for the replies.
I contacted CMPicon (duh, why didn't I think of that first) and they say they will have more A3 stocks soon.
