Modified M1 rifle clip for cleaning

I understand some of these modified clips were found in a remote area in Arizona used by US Army troops to train during WW2.

There is an excellent article in Billy Pyle's "The Garandicon Stand Report" Summer 2013 No 91
about these clips. There is a steel or brass bar installed on the inside and another notch is
cut in the side. The modified clip will keep the action open for cleaning or using the T.E. gage.

The clip in my photos was made-up for cleaningAttachment 42318Attachment 42319Attachment 42320

Also keeps the patch or other cleaning items from sticking under the bolt.... If reversed it will depress the follower so the bolt can be run back by the coach without locking open in dry firing...
