Rare M1903s for auction in August

    Amoskeag Auction Company - Auctions

Gosh, the "lineup" is absolutely amazing. Does someone know where these rifles come from? They appear to be all from the same collection, also Amoskeag is advertising it as being from one collection.

The rifles are from the Burt Kellerstedt collection. There are photos of these rifles in the Robert Ball book "Springfield Armory Shoulder Weapons 1795-1968" (1997-Antique Trader Books). The book has some great SA gun porn. Mr. Kellerstedt died a few years ago. They will certainly sell for a lot more than my pay grade will support>

I find that a confusing website. I couldn't see how to get a complete description & more photos without buying a catalog, & I couldn't figure out how to buy a catalog.

I've never seen them advertise. I suspect many folks never even heard of them. I guess that you can examine the guns if you live nearby?

Replicas? Replicas? Say what? Are they described as such? Guys might not be too happy with a replica.

    Guys
Amoskeag Auction has been around for sometime, they are quite reputable. His father started
doing auctionsin the 70's or before. Fortunately I live nearby & have attended most of them.
He gets some great stuff! As it gets closer to the auction date more photos will be online.
About 2 weeks before the entire catalog will be on line. As I plan to be there I will purchase a catalog. I may not be able to get one of Mr Kellerstadts rifles, but I will be able to examine them. Should be a good learning experience!

They are already starting very early with the auction catalogue this time. They'll add a description for sure, plus of course additional pictures (at least I guess).

I cannot follow chuck's claiming for replicas. I am not saying that these are all originals, I however would not say based upon the currently available pictures that there are fakes.

The Bushmaster and Air Service M1903 I would be VERY careful before bidding - get lots of pictures and a better description. They may not be "intended" to be fakes, but they could have been pieced together.
