Tough decision I had to make: having to sell a carbine

A rather unexpected financial disaster hit over the week-end requiring some cash soon. All of our reserves invested in my wife's start-up business, So I have to liquidate several guns. I don't have nearly as many as I did in years gone by, so I had to make a tough choice: Selling the un-messed with Inland is out of the question, and my M4 I carry on duty, so that's out. My beautiful, non-import Standard Products has to go, as well as a pistol or two. It will go on Gun Broker later today. I can pick up another when the financial sun shines again.

Sob, I think I will go hug my Inland!

There, but for the fickle pick of fate go us all...things will come back around. Have faith.

I needed a new vehicle this year and 6 of my carbines went to help pay for it. I understand your pain.

I've been thinking about it too. I have no living children. Nobody to leave them. Probably do the same.

After having them so long it's hard to do.

Sniff, it is listed: $750 start with a buy it now of $850. I am sure it won't last long at that price. Oh well, that's life.... at least I have the 43 Inland like the one my dad carried on Iwo Jima. That is the centerpiece of my dwindling gun collection!

I had to sell a few guns last year also. Yes, it hurts but you will be able to replace them if not with like, with something different that maybe you've been wanting.

I also sold some guns. Also needed the $. I wonder how many else here had to sacrifice to the money gods and do not want to talk about it?

Yep did that years ago, sold my '42 Inland with " I " stock. I had Property Taxes to pay so I sold it to a fellow re-enactor. My wife at the time did not understand my sacrifice ( they won't understand it's "just a gun" ) I wanted some sympathy but got none. Years later a friend would GIVE me a early war Winchester so I broke even.

Happy to say that my SP found a new home with a fellow Milsurps Carbine forum member. At least she is going to someone who will appreciate her!

As for wives' inability to realize the sacrifice, you have that right. They just don't get it. For 40 years, my gun collection has functioned as an emergency fund. It is just expected by them that they are expendable. "so what's the big deal?" is about the size of it.
