    Restoring parker hale SMLE

I just picked up a 1944 (I think) sporterized lithgrow SMLE for a buck. The sight says parker hale on it and from what I have read they are a company that sporterized enfields. I was wondering what it would take to restore the rifle back to full military appearance (If possible) Thanks.

We would need a bit more information in you description to give you an honest answer. Ideally a photo would be best but wonder over to the The Restorer's Corner section of the MKLicon and have a look around:

Also have a look at the Englandicon section of the MKLicon for photos of what your rifle should look like when completed and to see just how much you need to do and how many parts you will need:

The biggest problem with restoring a No.1 to military config is the availability of correct furniture. This is particularily true with the Coachwood stocked Lithgows. I'd leave it as a sporter as they too have a place in L-E history.
