    6 rifle SMLE crate inserts

Guys I remember seeing a post about these crates and possible insert plans. I've tried searching but can't find anything. Anybody remember where it was? I think there was some conjecture as to how the rifles were arranged with the bayonets.
I've got the crate without the inserts.
    Cheers

I don't have one, I'm afraid. Just saved the pics from somewhere in case I needed to make them.

These were made to a standard size and the internals were changed to suit whatever they were carrying. Originally it would have been marked with a designation for the box itself, yours looks to have been marked over the top with the intended contents. note; "rifle" in the title.

There was one on ebay recently that was marked No3 mk1 (the 3 being a change to whatever it originally was)... the seller thought it was for P14 rifles. I have a pic here somewhere of the same sort of box marked No2 mk1

Here are some extra photos to those above which I originally posted on Gunboards. Note that the measuring tape is metric. Please, please don't ask me to take it to pieces again! Involves a major disturbance in my strongroom and is damaging the screw attachments at the bottom of the dividers!

So the 'middle' piece that holds the bayonet sits only at the top? Is there a blocking piece in the slot to keep it at the top of the crate?

    Thanks again

Dan, don't the metal strips in the lid line up with the baffles, to hold them in solid when the lid is closed?

Terry, sorry I couldn't remember where I had got the pics from. I wouldn't name the original poster anyway, so as not to cause a stampede to your door, as has happened in the past with some HT pics. With your permission, I would like to keep a copy of the rest of them. I have to create from scratch baffles for my HT chest, so an idea of dimensions as you have posted will be a great help.
    Thanks again for your pics!
