Thanks again, Slovakia! That was very enjoyable. Especially for me, as I always go weak kneed whenever I´m confronted with a short *rse cavalry carbine. Was that 100 metres? And did you have to fit a higher front sight to get it low enough? I wonder when the Germans first introduced nitro? The action sounded just as it should. Very slick indeed. And I also liked the charger loading. `Tis a wonder that you didn´t have to pull through in between.

Gew.Bl.P.88 = Gewehr BlattPulver 88 = Rifle Flake Powder 88. Introduced in 1888 in the Scharfe Patrone 88 for the Gew.88, together with a FMJ bullet.
So I am not quite sure what a Kar.88 has to do with blackpowder.
Slovakia, were you shooting a duplex charge?

Which was why I asked if it was a duplex charge. Pure BP would have clogged the rifling and throat with the first clip. Adding a bit of nitro clears it out, but is forbidden by all BP competition regulations with which I am familiar. And why use BP in a rifle that was never loaded with BP?

As you´re a `Really Senior Member´, Medic, here´s a link to the Germanicon e-Gun auction where they´re quite often to be found. I´d be prepared togothrough the motions for you if you´d do the same for me and order some Werder cases from Buffalo (they no longer send to foreign parts).
