A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. What a shame to discard something like these old photos.

A woman in town threw out the flight jacket of a guy who flew 25 missions in a B24. It had the plane's nose art on the front and the missions on the back. She put it in the garbage. I could kill her.

A friend of mine tells me he found minor pieces of old kit at a garage sale. The lady advised she had thrown the rest out - believed to be green clothing from Berdan Sharp Shooter. What a shame!

Look at e-bay and see the photos and photo albums of WWII vets from all combatant countrys. I guess I understand how things like this end up on the market if there are no decendents but other than that it saddens me to see history slip away.
There are photos in my family collection from WWI and WWII with no notes as to who and where. Questions never asked and never to be answered. Preserve what you can while you can.
