John Ingliss MK1 no.2 what country used it?

I know the Canadian's used it ,but how do you tell if it was used by the Brit's. Mine has no FTR mark's ,but it is Suncorite painted black. Doe,s that make it is a British issue or Canadian ? It is tight with mint bore and about %90 suncorite with matching ser.## numbers. I shot a magazine of ball out of it and it shot very accurtate with 100% reliability. The holster is canvas with pouch for magazine and there is a O.D drab lanyard on the ring. Magazine is JL marked. Thanks in advance.

Its a Mk1 no 2 sorry for the miss print,there is n braoad arrow mark on it.

It's a No.2Mk.1 from British service. They are excellent pistols. Many were released from British service until the 1990's. I think some Canadian units are still using them.

We had them in Oz back in the day. So did the Kiwis.

What are you using now Paul? We definately had them when I was there plus the end of the No2 revolvers. We still have them plus SIG's (very good) but there's talk of something else now. I'm a believer in the Browning No2/L9A1-2 on the basis that if it ain't broke, then don't fix it. And as I used to KEEP saying when I was the technical bod at the Small Arms School, if soldiers are having accidents with them, then teach 'em so they don't!

Mark III Brownings are on issue along with the older L9A1s. SASR has some SIGs. My son-in-law (former rating, now an RAN engineering officer) told me 3 years ago that the Navy will be getting Glocks in the not too distant future. The suspicion then was the same as the G17s you are getting now.

The Inglis No2s supposedly went sometime around 2000. At least, that was the rumour.


Like you, I can't fault the L9A1 or BHP.

Yes Peter, we still have those Browning's and even a couple here and there with the shoulder stock slot and overstruck numbers...and some integration of Sig handguns...
