I think there is some variation in the "Colt" scopes and obvious variations. For example my Colt scope in engraved in white COLT with a very oversized C then 3x20 on top about 1 3/4 inches from the front on top, The screws on the bracket are all single slot and the lever to lock the scope is different. The adj dial on the side is also without a screw slot. The front
of my scope is a larger diameter for the first 1 1/2 and the top knob is smaller. Also engraved RANGE YARD X100 and the graduations are different. Mine is also has crosshairs and came on a 1975 Colt SP1. These scopes were marked Colt in a very noticeable location.

I believe they're ALL Japanese. Even the "Made in USAicon" examples. Metric threads on 'em all.

    A later version:

I've lost count of how many different Colt variants I've seen! At least six. Probably more.

What makes me doubt is the position of lateral knob and screw. They are closer to the mount than in the one I saw with the Colt markings on them. Btw, I knew all the Colt ones where made in Japanicon...

It is a ChiCom copy that isn't even marked Colt. The slots on the turret cap and w&e knobs on a Colt are relieved to one side as can be seen in the photos above so they may be turned with a cartridge case head. The Chinese copies have just plain slots. The locking handle or whatever you want to call it is different, too. I don't know about Italyicon but in the States that one would be worth only $20-$30.

I'm no expert. So take it for what it's worth. My gut tells me it was made by the same people that made the Colt Scopes. But maybe not marked it. But roscoe snyder might be right. Again, not trying to stir the pot. I don't think I'd pay a lot of money for it. That's for sure.

What's an original Colt 3x20 worth these days? I have one I bought in late 70s, like new.
Mounted on a 6.8 doc AR. I like it a lot. Just right for my eyes...

I compared it to my 70's Colt 3X and it's not even close. Imo it's a Chinese knock off.
