It will have the appropriate semiauto denial material welded in, although it doesn't need to be chopped up to do that. The guys doing the build have an 07 SOT, so they can legally do testing like this in full auto as parts of their build process. If they went straight to semiauto, diagnosing malfunctions would be much more difficult than getting the gun running smoothly in original configuration and then doing the semiauto conversion.
Hopefully they will have the conversion all finished in the next week or two and I'll get my hands on the final product! I'm really looking forwards to shooting it...and taking it to the local 2-gun match.
I see, Do you have a 8mm barrel too? I was just thinking you could change between 8mm and 7.62x39 by changing out the ejector and barrel giving 2 ammo options.
I have had some .303 barrels rebored and rechambered to 8mm by a gunsmith in Washington State... Beautiful work... not sure if the dimensional difference in the .303starting barrels will work with your receiver though. Might have to have them made new... originals are rare on the open market and quite coveted here in the US... I've been looking for a few years now... but I don't get out to the full auto events where they seem to hide.

Wally, who did the work? I'm sitting on a couple thou 8mm, would give me another option other than .303.
If you can, try and find barrels that are reasonably new or do not have any discoloration showing excess heating. I had one barrel done that had some obvious heat discoloration and it was a PIG to do. There were hard spots in the barrel and the barrel maker who did the job (one of the best in Kanukistan) told me that the hard spots almost ruined his cutters and he had some rather unkind words. If the barrels do not have hard spots they are a dream to do. Check the barrels over closely before sending them for re-cutting from .303 to 8mm or you will not be very popular.
