    California Carbine Owners

Moderators, please lock (but please do not move) this thread as I don't want it to turn political, but it is information critical particularly to California Carbine owners. California SB374 (STEINBERG) was passed and has been sent to the Governor to sign, making ALL semi-auto rifles with detachable magazines (including M1icon Carbines and even sporting guns like 742 Remington and Model 100 Winchester) are ASSAULT RIFLES requiring registration.

It takes effect 12-31-2013 AND REQUIRES REGISTRATION BY 7-1-2015. It will be done online, and will be $15 a person, regardless of the number of weapons you register. The registered weapons you will NOT be able to bequeath to your heirs. The only hope is that the governor vetoes it rather than sign it.

I wrote a lengthy letter to Brown a few months ago

He actually is a genuine gun owner and shooter and may not sign this thing. It does sound kind of clumsy and unworkable. I'm going to send him an email soon and ask that he not sign it. I would suggest that my California brothers do the same, soon. You never know, he had done it in the past.

Move them across the border to a friendly state like Nevada or Montana.

Simply do not comply,,, It's your duty to your heirs. That's my thinking on these matters.

I live in California and know first hand the hardship. Everyone knows that this state is trying to be a "leader" in gun control.

I don't think anything new or positive can be said on this subject. No matter how we feel, I think suggesting that someone should possibly break the law is not in anyone's best interest.

Before it can run amuck, I am closing this thread.
