    USS Markab (AD21)

My brother got around to giving me my mom's old photo collection 10 days ago, I just finished scanning everything I could ( approx. 700 scans). Mom had my fathers USN info that I thought was destroyed in the St. Louis fire years ago. Dad died in 1962 when I was 9 yoa, I knew he served on the USS Markab AD-21 a destroyer tender in the Pacific. Dad entered service in early 1944 at age 30, he had a few pictures I thought to share with you.

LCVP, I believe that may be dad in the upper left on the gunwale

My mom's brother Bud served on a submarine in the Pacific, he entered Great Lakes Training and graduated in mid January 1942, didn't waste much time when war broke out. Bud actually met up with my dad in anchorage at Eniwetok Atoll for a brief visit. And it turns out my father-in-law served on the Markab according to my mother-in-law, but we have no records to confirm that; I tried the Markab Assoc about 10 years ago but no one recalled either, too many had passed and I only got 2 replies from family members who fathers just didn't recall either of them.

Very nice photos. Thanks for sharing. My father served aboard a combat transport USS Kenton in the PTO. Lied about his age to enter as you can probably tell by the photo (he is on the right).Anyone able to identify the women in the photo?
