    Pics of Olympic Arms/SAW AR15.

Here are pics of my Olympic Arms/SAW AR15. Can anyone tell me about this company? I have looked all over for info for SAW, but can find absolutely nothing. This rifle functions flawlessly, great shooter.

Per Olympic Arms site, SAW = Semiautomatic Assault Weapon. As best I can figure this is an BATF&E requirement by their definition of pre-ban vs post-ban ARs. They also made a Kaliforniev version stamped PCR = Politically Correct Rifle.

Yeah, they have. I have two SGW pre ban ARs. Great quality and very accurate.

That is a nice example for a transitional SGW from the 90s before the ban, but before they switched to A2 uppers and A2 lowers. Great time period for SGW. What are the barrel markings? SOme use surplus A1 barrels.

I had an AR 15 by SGW when we adopted the C7 rifle in Canadaicon. I used it in service daily instead of my issue weapon and no one ever caught on...it worked so well. And yes, I was infantry.

We did have a thread here a couple years back about people slandering Olympic products...don't know what that was all about...
    Regards, Jim

Nor I. I think a lot of people just jump on bandwagons concerning certain things. I have had several Oly Arms products, and never had a problem. This one has run without one hiccup, and is damned accurate. Very happy with it. Does anyone have an idea when this one may have been made? I figure it has to be early/mid 80s with that low serial. Of course I have been wrong from time to time...

Oh, and imarangemaster? Not a single marking on this barrel. Weird.

I bought my 2001 just before 9 11 for 680 and what 12 years later I bought a 2013 for 699 and another one at Wally's for 647. So not only are they great rifles but even in this climate they are keeping their MSRP down. And as far as I can tell the quality is still there.
I checked my data and did not copy the serial numbers that far back. I'm sure you can look it up on the web. Or give me more time and I'll see if I can find a date for you. ( for the rifle )
All the newer rifles have the date on the receiver example mine say MOD PCR- 01 (2001) or XXX-2013 which I like and takes some or all of the guess work out of it.

I believe they sold an AR-15 type pistol chambered in 7.62X39. The government then banded all steel core calling it cop killer bullets. Steel core can no longer be imported but private sales and possession is OK.
