Talking Good news for California carbine collectors

Governor Jerry Brown VETOED SB374 that would have classified M1icon carbines (and all semi-automatic centerfire rifles) as assault rifles, banning future purchases. Brown clearly stated in his veto letter to the legislature, that it was overkill and would needlessly ban " historical and collectable firearms." I applaud the Governor for having common sense to veto the draconian law. He also said it would be an "infringement on gun owners rights."

Indeed, this is good news... and hopefully going forward, some of the previous draconian measure can be overturned!

Great news! I was just about to post the same thing

I wrote the gov two very long, very civil personal letters about the subject. They both centered on the existing useless but draconian laws already on the books and how these new ones would do nothing. He actually is a gun guy; pistols and such. Not a shooting trap at the country club while having cocktails guy like that doofus Mike Thompson.

Now we need to get a list of who voted for this stuff and get busy. I'm very willing to donate money for any group willing to go after them.

I think his veto letter was well done. He also refers to already having some of the strictest lawas, and that this vetoed law would have made no difference in crime.:

I personally wrote him a letter of thanks for having the courage to use common sense.

Saw that on the 6 PM news.
It was a relief to me. Though he did sign two others, but I don't want to get into the political side of things. Just pleased.

I suppose my dad was correct. "Even a blind hog will find an acorn now and again".
