    M1 Carbine sling

I thought I had bought the proper sling for my Inland M1icon Carbine, which has an original stock. However, the sling will not fit. The width is fine, but when I try and put the oiler in place and pull the sling tight the material is to thick. How do I fix this? Thanks

I think every Carbine owner has gone through this I know I have recently. Have you set the Oiler in the slot then work the sling around it ? I had problems with the metal tips going around Oiler .

Yeah, the first time I had to put a sling on a carbine I didn't think I'd ever get it on. I found that if I put it around the oiler I will have a loop of slack then I can pull it tight once I get the oiler into the stock. Sometimes, if I put the oiler in first, I can't thread the sling through.

Also the Britishicon made slings are thicker and a real PITA to get on.

Push the oiler back and forth in the slot

toward the left side when you pull it through (enough slack to fit where you want it) and when you feed it back in push it back left again. This makes enough room for the sling to pass freely. If you just let it flop around it won't let the sling pass.

Some times the metal tab needs to be flattened a bit for the end to feed around the oiler.
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!

Original C tip slings are thinner just so they can get around the oiler. A post war or later reproduction sling needs to be flattened some as Jim said.
