No 1 Mk 3 modified?

I wouldn't think Khyber Pass-even those guys don't make rifles with two rear sights. My guess is that Bubba had a few beers and somehow grafted the back of a No.4 to the front of a No.1. Better pictures are really needed, especially some shots of the rifle disassembled. Scotch tape is not be the best way to check head space and there are many other things I'd want to know about it before I'd consider shooting the thing.

Better pics needed for sure.. it looks like a No4 with a No1 MkIII barrel and front end timber fitted. Problems I see... the receiver doesn't quite look right, it has the "Ishy Scew", and a No1 MkIII barrel in a No4 receiver should (IIRC) index 180deg out.. ie' the rear sight would be on the bottom. A few alarm bells I think....

I, for one, would REALLY like to see a close-up of those MARKINGS on the Left side of the Butt Socket.

I expect the tale is told there, at least in part.

Well, I doubt there's much mystery...it looks like a #4 receiver mated to a set of #1 Mk 3 parts. Before we say it can't be done...give me the parts and I'll assemble it. A bit of lathe work and imagination. Not really a problem. But not kosher...

Now, how about those close ups, I might want to assemble the carbine version...

I've run .22 rifles and a couple of lever guns with two rear sights before. If you can get them in sync it works just fine, but it doesn't really accomplish much of anything that can't be done with the aperture sight alone, accuracy-wise. Except it's useful for letting you know if something has shifted, which HAS happened to me whilst messing about with the concept. There is one other marginally potential use, I suppose: the forward rear sight is set for normal short range/ "battle" distance, which becomes a reminder to reset the rearmost rear sight after extended distance use.

Sorry if it sounded like a bit of trying to steal your thunder Jim. The point I was making was how do/did they cope with the additional .030" or so CHS?
