    CMP Garand Barreled receivers

I could use at least three. I have parts for at least that many. I'm not interested in serious rust, and a decent barrel would be good. Who's bought them lately and with what result? Which of the three options?

Believe its matched dated barrel/receiver,unmatched,and a service grade option.I ordered a unmatched, and got one with almost no pitting, and a good bore around a 4.Not bad for a hundred bucks.

I got 4 if the incorrect ones. Receivers were not bad pitting was all below woodline but barrels were really worthless. Now that parts are so hard to find I am not sure what to do. I think if you want a good M1icon you woudl be better off buying a complete one. If you have a lot of parts that did not cost you an arm and a leg then a receiver may be a good deal. DO not expect the barrel to be worth anything they will be below rack grade criteria.

I bought two just before the CMPicon closed that door in 2007. A fine HRA with correct barrel, but an early 42 SA with post war barrel. Took me about 6 months to get the last parts that I didn't already have.

Matter of fact, haven't had the chance to fire either one yet. Does this mean that I have two UNFIRED Garands?????

I received 5 mail order 2 months ago that all barrels gauged 3 ME or less and 2 MW or less. Only 1 receiver out of the bunch had slight surface rust. I picked up 2 more on a trip to the South store and found a WRA barrel that gauged 2 TE and 1-1/2 MW with only a small spot of pitting on the heel of 1 receiver. All of these were the mis matched $100.00 ones. If you can go to one of the Stores you will help your odds. I think I just got lucky on the mail order ones. Oh and all of the receivers were WWII .SteveL
