Underwood/Inland carbine
I have an M1 Carbine with a Underwood S/N'ed receiver and an Inland GM barrel. Can't seem to find out any specifics about it. Plenty of specs on the opposite combo of Inland/Underwood but none on mine. Can anybody tell me where to look and find info on this combo?
Thanks

I'm pretty sure underwood never used any barrels but their own. If fact most other makers used underwoods , their quality was the best .you will get more replies so keep checking in here

As for Underwood. Looking in "War Baby" Underwood integrated a lot of parts from Inland but no barrels. As stated by phillydude, they didn't integrate barrels from anyone.

Welcome to the forum. The receiver and barrel combination just means that at some point in its service life, it was rebuilt and upgraded. The original barrel would have been unserviceable possibly after years of combat, and the armory replaced it when adding other "upgrades" like adjustable sights, flip safeties, etc. It is still "original" as issued at some point in its illustrious service life (post-WWII, Korea, Viet Nam) just not as it left the factory in 1944 or whatever. Don't get hung up on its "only being a mixmaster". It is a wonderful piece of history that is still a wonderful Personal Defense weapon. Besides, the upgrades were there for a reason: they were improvements for reliability and accuracy.

Good info!
Thanks much for the responses. The M1 carbine world is new to me, but seems very rich with its place in history. So many guns made, it is amazing that the information available is a detailed as it is.
