    War Baby 3

Not sure if it was talked about before but I know War Baby 3 is out there , and from what I've heard everything from the first two editions is reprinted in #3 with corrections added. I appreciate all the hard work and research that is put I to his books. But my question is , is it worth I to buy #3 when I already own the first two ? Seems to me that I would be paying for 2/3rds of a book that I already own.
    Thoughts ?

Virtually nothing in volumes 1 and 2 is included, only lots of updated info, corrections and "new material" in the other half of the volume. The revision style chosen is a little hard to use (impossible without WB1 and WB2 handy) but IMHO is well worth the money.

I just received War Baby III for my birthday and it's almost mind numbing in a lot of ways. I wasn't prepared for the format, even though I was aware of it through reading online reviews about it. Yes, definitely do not buy III without I and II. You will be totally lost if you do go that route. I have found myself looking through the revisions to War Baby I the most and ignoring most of II. Overall, am I glad I got it? Sure, but maybe I was looking for something a little different.

There are many books on carbines. The least costly of any value is "US M1icon Carbines Wartime Production" by Craig Riesch, around $22 delivered. This is usually what a guy with one or two carbines will get.

Most serious collectors, and many guys with just a few who want the definitive source, get the best information there is. That being the "War Baby" series by Larry Ruth.

    War Baby 1992
    War Baby Comes Home 1993
    War Baby III 2013

These are considered the bibles on carbines. The three books will set you back about $250, but are well worth it. You will not be disappointed.

Just saw War Baby III on:
    Amazon $138 delivered
    Ebay $136.50 delivered

How different from the 5th edition of Riesch (which I have), is the 7th edition?? Just having the one Carbine (sometimes two if I am lucky, I can't justify the Ruth books.

I think there's a thread with information about the 7th on here somewhere. I know I had the same question, and even looked at the 7th at the gun show - not enough difference from the 6th for me. I've got all the WarBaby series, but don't have a lot of experience using them yet. I got WarBaby III at a gun show for $120, but it cost $8 to park and $7 admission. - Bob

The 7th edition is 235 pages, the fifth is 212. The big difference was going from the fourth to the fifth.
