    Svt-40

Just bought this off of GunBroker and am awaiting its arrival. Very excited to get it in my hands. For now here are some pictures from the seller. Looks to be an Izhevsk, a later one from looking at the stock and muzzle break.

picture 6 shows the top of the receiver. looks like it's a 1940. as these went through the typical post war refurb process like the Mosins, that would explain why it has the later style 2 port muzzle break. the front sling loop is the early version. it's also an AVT-40 stock as show by the 2 cutouts for the safety (which would be the selective fire switch on the AVT-40). nice one.

if you need a gas system tool, Black River makes an excellent one. it's where i got mine.

The SVT arrived today. Looks to be in very good condition. The barrel is dirty but I have seen much worse and it will clean up very will. I will try to get to the range next week sometime and give a report. I was actually out there today but the rifle did not arrive until later.

Well, they're OK...a lot better than the bolt action to shoot. But I have others I still prefer...

and that video speaks volumes. i'm pretty sure i need serious shimming in my SVT. it shot about 6-8 inches low at 100 yards.
