    russian capture p38

I came across a walther p38 made by mauser in 1944. It just happens to be a russian capture. The serial numbers are x'ed out and re-marked. They don't apear to be matching, however, it is in very good condition. I was wondering if a russian capture p38 is worth getting and if so, what would be the top price for one. I was also wondering if they made grips with a large eagle holding the swatchka marking or if that is just repro.
    -thanks

If you wanted a P.38 to shoot the RC would probably do fine, but if you are looking for a collectible I would pay a little more and get an original.

Hey Johnny..... Surely a Russianicon Captured P-38 would be a superb addition to a collection in its own right wouldn't it? Talk about been there, done that seen the film and got the Tee shirt! A Russian captured P-38 had everything. No?

I'm really curious about the nazi marked grips. Could they be reproductions?

Het Peter, I guess it would depend on why you were collecting. In all the collecting fields the best condition are the most collectible, and just because Russiaicon gathered up every weapon they could find, took it home, and dip blued it doesn't make it collectible.

Well I want a collectable piece that I can shoot a few times and then lock away in the safe but it doesn't look like I'll be getting one for a while now. I'm trying to cool down from my recent collecting spree of my surplus rifles. Maybe when I save up the money to drop on a great piece I will get one but for now I will just sit back and watch. I will be starting the handgun collection soon.
