How is the carbine market these days?

Just wanted to stop in and hello guys, wondered if any has made any good finds lately? Things have been dry up in Ohio lately after last years 3 big finds. I have found a few other amazing WW2 US pieces, no carbines.

Nothing on Carbines, but found a nice WW II vintage 30 caliber ammo cam for belted 30-06.

I have a M1 carbine that was made by rockola juke box company. My Dad is a Marine that served in the pacific during WW II. When he made the beach landing on the island of Tarawa a captain was killed leaving the Landing craft so my Dad grabbed his carbine and slung it over his back and ended up taking it home. Hearing the story from my Dad was more interesting then the way I tell it. Wish he could have kept his Garand!! I did buy one years ago.

Stahl, Welcome to the forum. IS the Rockola the one your dad brought home? If not, what happened to it. My dad carried an Inland on Iwo Jima in WW2 . He loved it.

I've found a few carbines this last year (2013). All of them I bought locally here in Austin. Although, I will say that I had been searching for one within my price range (around 500) for quite some time before these showed up.

Not much happening with M1 carbines here in New Jersey,... they have been banned here since 1991. in 1990 the "Florio Gun Ban Bill" was passed, you had one year to dispose of listed weapons out of state, render them inoperable and register free, or register as an 'assault' weapon for $50.00. No grandfathering.

What great family history about your Dad bringing home his carbine. If you have pictures, vintage and newer we would love to see them. There is a tutorial up in the sticky section explaining how to post pictures. It's pretty darn easy.

Hi, I have not been on this Forum for a long time. The weather has me staying in today and thought I would try to remember my pass words and play on this old Desk Top. I am only doing two Gun Show now, ( both in San Antonio ) and picked up a all correct Inland at the new show on the North West side, out side loop 1604, The Liberty Gun Show. Ser.# 6,940,XXX walked in last Sunday, no DCM papers, but the young man that sold me the rifle told me he was given the Carbine to him when his Dad passed on , that his Dad had bought it when the NRA had offered them. This one makes two hand stamped in my collection. The first one I bought has a barrel date of 12-44 and this one has a 2-45 dated barrel. There are some still out there, but not for $ 500.00 anymore. The last Import Carbine I bought cost me a little over $ 600.00, but was a nice Underwood with a High Wood NPM stock. The pickings are getting slim, but I'm still hunting them down. Am sorry to hear about the SAXET show in Austin being shut down. Hope Todd finds a location outside Travis County. Bob
