SAVAGE No4 MK1*

Just purchased one of these.....it's in mint original shape. It appears unfired. It has a two groove barrel and all the correct savage stamps, all matching, even the magazine. The question I have is, it has the brass butt washer screwed too the rear of the buttstock (right side) typical of what you would find on the swedish mausers but there are no markings on it. Definitely does not appear to have been an add on....looks original. Has any one seen this before on a lend/lease savage? What is the current market value savage???? Regards.

ps: I've never seen a Savage manufactured Enfield with a butt disc, which is why I'd like to see the pics...

I have never heard of a savage with a stock disk either. I might be wrong but I believe India often used these disks on their rifles. The pics would surely help

I have what appears to be an unfired Savage No4 Mk1* that has the U-broad arrow of South Africa on the receiver.
It has a rack number electric pencilled on the side of the action and a hole on the butt where it looks like a marking disc was fitted.
It was not recessed in though as an original fitting would have been.

Apart from this the rifle was near mint with all matching Savage parts.

I bought it around 20 years ago and it was one of a batch of similar rifles that Henry Krank (UK) brought in

Have seen discs in No. 4s before. Not sure of the origin, but believe they are from one of the countries that was given No. 4s after WW II.
