    Different forces - different interpretation.

Thats exactly what my force did (when I sold my Enforcer)- except - they issued a new 'temporary FAC' with a life of 6 months and a condition the rifle would be exported within that period
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I spoke to Bill Smallwood about this yesterday as I was talking about a member wanting a spare barrel here in the UKicon but didn't seem to get much help from them or seem interested.

Advice from Bill, phone him on Fridays as its the only day he works and he will help. Be gentle with him he's getting old like the rest of us, and an expert on all things Parker Hale !!!

So another case of the police making it up as they go along and thus acting ultra vires.

And another example of the futility of asking the police about the law and expecting a correct answer.

While I was at Warminster I was asked to arbitrate on a couple of things, really to do with definitions. Cup dischargers was one and another was a DeLisle EXTREMELY well made/converted from a dewat/deactivated No1 rifle. Still deact BUT had the tampering interfered with the original deactivation (it had, marginally) and increased its ability to fire a shot. bullet or other like missile (it hadn't) or improved the 'so reduced as to be incapable of withstanding the blah blah blah...'. It hadn't so everyone was happy and the original (but lost certificate) certification still held good.

Another was another of those superb jobs by a reenactor who converted an early spec. Mk2 Sten into a Mk5. Initially they seemed to be champing at the bit for a prosecution but to be fair, they did listen as in this case nothing .................. Anyway. But at least they took advice. I seem to remember that just to emphasise the point we had a morning on the range with some Sten guns. Well, you have to don't you?
