Build based on a Model 1924 Mauser

I am looking to restore a Model 1924 Mauser action that I have owned for a number of years. My research shows the Model 1924 to be an intermediate length, large ring M98 Mauser. I hope someone can confirm this information. I would like to restore this action to service as a hunting rifle. Will a barrel identified a model 98 barrel fit this action? Can this action be fit with scope mounts? Finally are there any gunsmiths left who have Experance working with the Model 1924 Mauser actions?

    Thanks in advance

Yes intermediate large ring action. Barrels were different from most m98 in that they are cut to more fully enclose the cartridge head but the good news is that m48 barrels should fit and new ones are available from several sources like libertytree collectors, https://www.libertytreecollectors.co...?idCategory=56

Thank you, I was looking to use a 7x57 Mauser barrel from Lother Walter or E.W. Shaw. If I undestand your post correctly. These barrels will not work with my receiver. Is my understanding correct?

Technically it can be done but the yugo "safety breech ring" will have to be removed - makes the barrel swap more expensive. Probably cheaper to start with a vz24 action

I was at the Vallejo, CA Gunshow this AM. I saw 6-8 very nice Mauser sporters in various calibers. Prices ran $700-$850 for real keepers. I think that may be the better route.
