A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... You only have to read about Dresden and Hamburg firestorms which melted steel up rooted trees and stripped the clothes off people hanging on to stuff before they too were consumed, the grand plan in the point blank was all along to grind the populace down as well as strategic targets in Germanyicon. A good read is operation Aphrodite or its nickname operation Perilous involving the B-17 and a fact I just found out is B-17's accompanied Lancasters on a few night operations into Germany now there would have been some real problems dampening the radials exhaust down, the brits did have the Hercules powered Lanc's called paddle steamers they loved them as not so vulnerable to flak or night fighters being air cooled
WIKAPEDIA Royal Air Force Avro Lancaster B I PA474 of the Battle of Britainicon Memorial Flight. .... Only 300 of the Lancaster B II fitted with Bristol Hercules engines were.......

Post script - of the 7,000+ Lancs made 50% were shot down the Bomber crews had the highest casualty rate of the allies alongside the German U-boat crews who suffered 30,000 dead out of 40,000 enlisted.
