Trigger sticking at second stage after initial bolt operation?

Hi good sirs,

I've noticed that occasionally, when feeding the first round of the magazine into the chamber, the trigger feels like it sticks at the beginning of the second stage. When the shooter goes to fire, there is no first stage pre travel, just a tiny bit of creep, then BANG. After manipulating the bolt to chamber the next round, the issue disappears and does not affect subsequent shots.

Additionally, cocking the striker and putting the safety on before opening the bolt and loading the magazine seems to prevent this, but it appears to be a potentially dangerous situation that needs to be remedied.

I suggest your trigger/sear/safety have been altered. Perhaps you should examine them with intent to replace the offending part. Pics might help a bit.

I found no evidence of modification. All of the firing control parts are still covered in Greek black.

i can see were the sear has been ground on, i would try another sear, and see how that works.

Hi chuck, Thanks for taking a look.

Would grinding on the sear leave the greek blackening? Despite the lighting in the pictures, every surface of the sear, including the top and back of the bolt interface is still black.

Here is the interface on the cocking piece and another view of the sear:

Some measurements:

Vertical sear engagement: 0.04"
Sear face height: 0.20"
Cocking piece face height: 0.15"

just replace the parts, rather then over think this...its really that simple.

My thanks to you as well. I should have listened from the outset. My apologies.

I did learn a lot having everything apart and watching things interact closely, so I'll count the experience as a positive for that reason alone.
