Ross Rifle for sale, info needed.

I just bought a 1944 Long Branch rifle in Saskatchewan. The seller mentioned he has a very nice original Ross rifle for sale also. It's full military.

He said it says Ross 1905 on the action.

On the wood- CPASC Quebec II.II II** 514
1911

or close to that...

No pics now but he can get some at Christmas. He's 60 years old and no digicam.

Full wood, nice shape, few dings on the wood, a bit of paint off around the breech. He has a figure of close to $1000 in mind. Not sure what such a thing is worth.

I wouldn't pay more than $800 TOPS for a decent 1905 Ross.... but then I'm cheap.

Also, I wouldn't buy a No.1MkIII converted to .308. That conversion is a bad idea all around.

I actually have no idea what a full military Ross is worth. The only ones I've seen at gun shows are usually sporterized and about $300 or so.

Which Ross is the most desirable model and what are prices like on them?


I told the gentleman I'd mention these items he has. Does that SMLE converted in Belgium ring any bells? I think I've heard of that before. I agree, not something I'm really interested in.

I had to turn down an extremely good M1905 earlier this year for $750.00. The chap was a well-known Ross collector and felt this was the 2nd best version he'd ever seen. He had recently acquired the ABSOLUTE best and this was, therfore, on the market.
Unfortunately the Canadian Revnue Agency apprised me of something and suddently any money I could have put towards it disappeared.
A +VG M1910, which is the version I'd prefer, went for $475.00 at gun auction in the spring, here in Ontario.
Draw any conclusion from this you wish.

Its pretty juicy and all original

The last M-10 I saw at auction went for $1000

Update- Someone recently asked me about this rifle, and reminded me about it. I was able to track it down and have now bought it. It's en route. I'm very excited about it, a Mk II** Military, rare and desirable, and in near mint condition too. Basically, the best rifles Ross made.

Cost a lot more than my previous guess though.

I received it today. As opposed to a Target model, seems a standard Mk II** Military. Not a common item to find I'm told. It has the black paint finish typical of Military vs. the high gloss blue of the Commercial Target models.

Does anyone know what CFASC or CPASC stands for? (looks like a P but could be F.
